DEVERBATIVE AND DEADJECTIVAL NOUNS WITH THE FUNCTION OF NOMINALIZATION MEANS IN THE NOVEL "THE USE OF A MAN"

Abstract

This paper deals with the analysis of nominalized prepositional case constructions in the role of semantic complement of verbs. The central part of the work is about the analysis of verbs and complements based on their semantics in the specific context. The goal of the research is to describe deverbative and deadjectival nouns in the function of means of nominalization and to consider their use in the novel The Use of a Man (Upotreba čoveka), by Aleksandar Tisma. The percentage frequency of deverbative and deadjectival nouns is also presented in this research. The syntactic-semantic aproach is used considering the fact that the sentence is being analyzed on the deep and surface level.
